This is Selena, Glen and Lyon from the game Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.
After I
drew Selena for the first time last Fall I felt like drawing more of the "three who shouldn't have died". So here's the story:
"Lyon needed a particular flower in order to perform a very ancient and complicated spell. The
floris vermelus is almost instinct and grows only at the foot of certain trees. However, a prince cannot venture out alone into fields and forests, and so his father ordered Glen and Selena to accompany him in his search. After looking for many days and almost giving up, Lyon finally found it, the one!" Fin
Selena is looking into the distance. Has she spotted an enemy? a spy? or is he just thinking, "Glen, you'd be so much sexier if you didn't wear that ugly hip-cape almost-a-skirt thing..."?
I had never noticed before that Glen is wearing that 
OK, long enough comment, I'll just finish by saying that I don't mean to pat my own back but I'm quite happy with it

I also agree with you about how they should've lived, haha. In my headcanon I like to imagine that when you earn them as recruitable units post-game, that's Eirika and Ephraim learning how to use the Sacred Stones to revive all the good people who fell during the war, these three especially X'D
Too many good characters die in Sacred Stones. But it's such a good game. And the drama of it probably contributes to it being so good
Haha yes, it's very bittersweet--if they didn't die perhaps we wouldn't be so emotionally attached, but because of that very attachment they're the ones we most want happy endings for! XD
