Hey guys, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope you have an awesome, spectacular, fabulous, extraordinary year full of good things. Do you have any hopes for the new year, maybe some resolutions, or goals you wish to achieve?

For me 2013 is going to be busy (but what else is new XD) and full of surprises. In May I'm going to graduate from Computer Science and god knows what will happen after that - what kind of job will I get, when will I get it and where? Chances are I will have to move. Not knowing when and where feels both scary and exciting at the same time.

About art, I know I won't have much time to draw because of the above but still, next year I hope to improve and maybe draw more originals. I would also like to do some Star Fox fan art, it's been years since I've last done any, and I love this series. But I know that, as usual, a bunch of things will keep me busy and art will slip to the bottom of the "to-do" list.

Also today, December 31, marks the 4th anniversary of this dA account. Time sure flew! I won't mention again the story of the circumstances surrounding the creation of this account. I'm just glad the reasons that brought me back here feel far, far behind now, at long last. I'm glad to be here

and I would like to thank my watchers, you guys are great! I had thought about making a "thank you" list of sorts like some people sometimes do on their journal but I wouldn't want to forget and leave out anybody, so I'm not doing it. You guys know who you are, anyway, and thank you for being there

It's back! With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Hey! how have you all been? It's been 2 months since my last journal entry, time flies. I'm back and I'm currently working on a drawing. As you know I took a break because I was unhappy with my art, and to be honest I'm not sure I'm happier now

But I should learn to really not put the bar so high and not be so hard on myself. At the end of the day it's just a hobby, goddammit

but I can't help it.

I'd like to say hi to my new watchers, however you found me despite my total lack of recent activity

Stepping away from dA until... hum.. September, maybe? For the following reasons:

My job is killing me, the hours are long and tiring, I'm so exhausted when I'm home that I don't even feel like sitting in front of the computer. As a result I'm behind on dA and everything online in general.

My motivation to draw is a bit at a low, and I've been disappointed with everything I've drawn these past few months, so taking a break from it will be all the best.

The autumn semester is starting in less than a month from now, so what little time I spend on the computer for the next 4 weeks, I want to spend it on doing coding tutorials and things like that to get a headstart for what's coming up. And I haven't coded at all for the past two months, so I need to get back to it and make sure I'm not rusty before college starts.

I will login here once a week to take care of #Fire-Emblem-Boys and reply to my notes, it's most likely going to be on Mondays or Tuesdays.

My devwatch has already started stacking up from my lack of presence here, I'll catch up with you guys little by little when I come back.

@*Corealis : I'm still working on my part of the art trade, I haven't given up on you! I'm about 60% done. I'll e-mail it to you when it's done.

Hitting the 30's

I would like to thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes and gift art!

You guys are so kind... thank you very, very much!

I still haven't fully grasped yet that I'm now in my 30's. When you're a teen and you think of being thirty-something, that sounds so awfully, terribly old!

I don't really know that to think about it now that I'm there. The 30's are a bit of a weird, in-between age: kids think of you as old, and elders think of you as "still a kid".

But one thing I'm glad is to see is the confirmation that I have made life choices I'm still comfortable with. I was still a child when I decided that getting married and having kids of my own was something I wasn't cut out for and wouldn't do. I always secretly feared I might be mistaken, but now that I'm almost old to have kids, I know I don't regret this decision at all. I never did.

I'm also coming to peace with many other things. Of course if I could turn back time, there are things I'd do differently, and things I wouldn't do at all. But I'm coming to peace with it all. And I know that I'm a very different person now than I was 10 years ago, thank god for that. I'm actually pretty glad to be leaving my twenties behind, a lot of it was quite... unpleasant.

You know, I think that's what the 30's are about: coming to peace. Acceptance. Moving on.

Even though I'm changing decades, I did nothing special for my birthday. It was a long, tiring work day as usual. But when I got home my mom had gotten me my favorite sushis: Sushi Shop's spicy shrimp! (unfortunately I am intolerant to fish so my choices are very limited when it comes to sushis

) They are SO delicious!

And we had hazelnut-chocolate cake for dessert

It was a nice, little birthday, but they're the best, you know

Yet, of course, there were my own emotions as well. Disgust, shame, regret. Verus was a fool. He listened to Wiseman and paid thoroughly for it. ... I got a DD while I was away!

That was quite a surprise...

It feels like it's been a while since I've last done journal skins. Maybe now that I have some free time again (OMG! did I just write free time?!?!), I'll start working on some new ones.

So I'm back now!

I've been so busy that it feels like it was yesterday that I last logged in. Today was my first day completely off since... last January I think. I was exhausted and feeling weak from the stress of the last 3-4 weeks, but I spent the day outside today gardening and it has done me SO much good. Tomorrow I'll start drawing again, and trying to catch up with you guys here on dA! ^^

...until Mid-May, approximately. It's the end of the semester, finals are coming soon, we have to finish up all the projects we're doing, and on top of that I'm starting a new job on Friday. I'm very glad I got a job! but until the end of the semester, it's going to take 3 full days a week out of my free time, so the timing is a bit bad

BUT, I'm very glad I got this job, so I won't complain. I just need to put aside all my hobbies for the next 3 weeks and I should make it fine.

I will login again in early May to take care of #Fire-Emblem-Boys stuff, but otherwise I'll catch up with you guys when I come back. Take care and see you!

Tales of the Abyss!! +feature

I finally had the time to beat Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS yesterday... I'm SO thankful Nintendo finally released it here (there was talk of it last Summer/Autumn being cancelled, in the wave of Nintendo of America going "JRPGs are evil we don't want them on our consoles anymore blablablablah!")

Wow, I love it so much. It's one of my all-time favorite games now. And the only other game I can think of for which I felt so strong an attachment to the ENTIRE cast of characters was Skies of Arcadia.

Tales of the Abyss is just awesome, and if you own a 3DS and like RPGs, go get it NOW! before it's not available anymore

And now that I've beat the game I can finally look at fan art on dA

I'm back + Skyward Sword

I'm back! I have survived one of the worst semesters I've ever had, ever. Finals were especially tough, too. I'm still physically and emotionally exhausted from the stress of it all (crazy semester + tough finals). I guess I will need a few days before I'm fully well again.

I thought Skyward Sword coming out at the end of the semester would be a bad thing and diversion from college stuff, but it turned out to be a blessing. It allowed me to completely escape and take my mind off of my studies while I was playing. I really loved the game at first, and my first 30 hours into it were bliss. It looks so pretty! And it's a change as a whole from past games, too. I had troubles with the control, but after a (long) while I finally decided to move the sensor bar from above to below to the TV, and adjust the Wii settings. It helped a lot.

Past 30 hours or so into the game I started getting annoyed a bit by some of the quests. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like some of them were there just to make us waste time (like when you have to cross Skyview Temple again just to fetch water). And those timeshift stones... sure, the effect is amazing, but why do we have to use them so much? Somehow I feel like half the game takes places in the desert, using these stones

I thought there was too much of it.

And the final battle... (spoiler warning, scroll down the box if you want to read)

What is it with the final battle?!?! Just what the....???!?!? WHY??

I'm still trying to understand. Through the game Ghirahim is the bad guy. We learn something like 20 hours into the game that he's trying to revive his "master". We learn completely at the end of the game that this master of his is called Demise and that he's now the ugly spikey annoying monster with big toes that we have to fight 3 (!) times through the game. And that he's the one that Hylia fought against long ago.

But that Demise guy doesn't really play any role into the game other than serving the backstory. And Ghirahim's trying really hard to revive him and bring him back.

But what happens? We find the Triforce, wish "Demise begone!" and the temple squishes him like a silly bug. Then Ghirahim shows up and goes "haha, he may be squished now but he exists in the past!" and of course he rushes to the past. And what happens?

He succeeds. Duh!

For 60 hours we've been trying to keep him from doing just that. And it happens. And what happends next? Ghirahim becomes a chunk of steel, the final battle is against Demise who barely has any connection with the rest of the game, and who looks like he could be Ganondorf's granddaddy, and who clearly has been sealed for too long, because it's the easiest, most boring battle of the entire game. It's just ridiculous.

And sword-Ghirahim? He just goes... POOF! Haha hahahahahahhhahaaa.... haha... _*cries* I mean... poof... just like that...

Man, I was so frustrated. What a boring, stupid ending. It's almost as bad as bad fan fiction.

Wouldn't it have been more satisfying if we had made Ghirahim FAIL? The final battle against him could have been even more epic, and when we beat him, then he reverts back to being a sword, and he gets sealed away somewhere, or destroyed for good. He would have been so terribly pissed to have failed.

He at least deserved to die, and not just go poof. I think it's the most ridiculous, laughable character disposal ever.

Now I'm pissed. I'll just do a ritual with a funny dance to revive him, and send him after Nintendo, goddammit

I'm going to be a bit less active on dA until the end of December. The end of the semester happens to coincide with the release of Skyward Sword, so until Christmas, when I'm not doing college work, I'll be playing Zelda
